It's like a transformer, there are various modes so you can detach from the bottom extension. I like it its a bit heavy and it would be better if it was more powerful but all in all it is good.

Best vacuum on the market. Can't beat the value and performance at $350. Highly recommended.
Very happy with this purchase!
I wanted something mid-range in price but with good performance. This vacuum is a little heavy but does a great job, easy to use and move plus with the lights helps to highlight those darker areas under furniture. Simple switch to move from carpet to hard floors which is useful.
