Our new Samsung is perfect for our needs & best of all it fits the space in our kitchen. Less volume than our old side by side but more space and much easier to organise.
Tall, dark, and handsome fridge but not perfect
I was seeking a slim french door fridge that would be less than 90cm in width, and not too deep, either.
The colour really pleasantly surprised me. It’s like this fridge has a soul and I can feel that ‘he’ is happy to be here. It sings when I open the door, and it’s really cute.
The stainless-steel borders around the inner shelving and the crystal looking freezer bins are also amazingly cute.
However, I am a visual person, and I wish the door shelves could have been lower, like, spread out lower – and so that the crispers be made smaller - c'mon, this won't convince me to drink less soft drink, or eat more veggies and fruit hahaha...
And that the door shelving be made slightly, ever slightly deeper, taking away from the depth of the inner shelving for more balance.
I almost swapped this for an LG 530L of very similar dimensions.
In the end, I didn’t, because the LG was way too ‘shiny’, and as I had worked with fridges during uni days, I knew that their kind of ‘steel’ would dent and ding easily; amongst other reasons including that this fridge had the opposite problem – the inner shelving were too shallow, and the door shelving were too deep/big, and I had read elsewhere about air filters needing to be changed, noisy compressors, and slamming doors.
Samsung 488L is a tall, dark, and handsome fridge, even with the ‘high’ bottom door shelves.
