This recorder is easy to use and performs well. Picture quality is excellent.

Overall the unit works well and is not hard to use. The limitation of only recording two things at once is more of a problem than you might think. More than that you can't record two things and watch live TV on another station at the same time, again, more of a problem than you would think. It's actually quite irritating. A first world problem - I know!

I recently replaced the Panasonic dual head hard drive with the UBT-1. At first glance a lot more stylish and concealed compartment in the front easy to navigate. As with the previous model I had it was fairly straightforward to follow set-up, watching TV , checking the e guide and then recording functions. These were all very similar to work through, although the settings have the guide with fairly indifferent contrast in screen views but apart from this I was able to watch shows and recording within 10 minutes. Currently the internet has been having dramas, the supplier server outage, so couldn't check that specific service. The picture quality was next level. I recently purchased a high end Samsung tv for the living room, while this new recorder attached to an older version Samsung. The old TV matches the new version, thinking that the unscaled picture quality is everything Panasonic promised. I haven't attempted the edit function but am able to access a greater range of digital stations with this unit. So far would have to rate this purchase as a good option. Not trying to do anything fancy except watch and record TV, will have to wait to report on streaming movie but so far would recommend.
