disappointing
After reading reviews & blogs plus the installed 4wd maps I thought I'd retire my old 4.5"Tom Tom. Well that was a bit premature! The size of the presentation on the 7" Navman is the same as the old 4."Tom Tom even when I set it to max magnification - it is just a wider field of view . The TomTom contrast is greater and the road names are darker & thicker so when both are mounted side by side on the windscreen the old 4.5" Tom Tom is still easier to read especially in bright light. I have tried all the map settings and controls but it is still a very washed out image. 2nd problem, very embarrassing, today the address search couldnt find a perfectly valid street address, not once but twice including my own house. To find my way back home I had to type in a nearby street name! For the outward journey I had to resort to Google Maps on my phone (instant result) I then used that to see the nearest side street which I then entered into the Navman and finally after whirling for 30 seconds bingo it finally worked out roughly where I wanted to go. Lucky I had the Android Google phone with me or I would have been stuffed. 3rd issue - response time to address search - its tooooo slooooow! With Google maps its instantaneous even before you have finished typing. Navaman doesn't do that - it will sit there and churn away for what seems minutes before it presents with a choice of locations to choose from. So I have Google Maps on my phone, an old Tom Tom sat nave and a built in Sat Nav in our other car Mazda CX30 to compare it with; The Navman is he loser. Very disappointed so far.
