So far, so good.
I bought the The Haier HWT 75AA1 top load washing machine from Appliances Online as a replacement for my Samsung top loader, which had decided not to spin any more. Budget and size were also important factors.
So far I am pretty happy, though it is early days yet. There are enough good points to outweigh any negatives.
The machine is more compact than the Samsung with a capacity of 7.5kg (The Samsung held 6.5kg). The electronic controls are easy to use and there are 6 wash options. One annoying omission is the ability to change the agitation time. The only way to do this is to select a different wash program. Some of the negative reviews complained about clothes tangling, but so far I haven’t had this problem.
On a purely cosmetic level, the Haier water inlets are located on top of the machine which is great for easy access, but is just plain ugly. The spin cycle is extremely noisy at full speed but in comparison to the Samsung, the clothes come out much drier. There is some water hammer when opening hot or cold taps to fill the machine, which I didn’t have with the Samsung.
The one thing I do miss is the little tune my Samsung played at the end of the wash cycle (the theme from Schubert’s Trout Symphony). The Haier just beeps 6 times.
