Surprisingly realistic!
We've had our Redway for 3 weeks now. We mounted it on the brick wall where our timber fireplace used to be (it was easy to install). We've been delighted with it! The flame effect is fully 3D, glows and is very realistic. It certainly provides the ambiance we were looking for. The ability to operate the flames with or without the integral fan heater is very good. And the heater, when switched on, puts out a lot of heat (but uses lots of electricity in the process).
The remote control is a bit strange: you can turn on the flames without the heater, and then turn on the heater any time afterwards. But when the heater's on, we can't turn it off without turning off the whole unit.
The grey/black surround comes as a separate package and adds a lot of volume to the flame/heater unit. We have a small space, and it would have been good to have the option of a smaller surround.
Else, we're very satisfied with the unit.
(And Appliances Online did an excellent job of keeping us informed of the delivery progress.)
Most realistic looking fireplace
This is the bee's knees. It looks so real and adds such a beautiful warm glow to the house in winter (which is not often in Queensland). I tend to use only the flame effect but the heater also has two settings that are toasty and warm. It adds a fabulous ambiance and cosiness to the house. Unfortunately we are moving but I will be buying another as soon as I can to create the same feel.
