This should never have been allowed to go to market. It is utterly useless for it's intended purpose. You might as well smooth out the fabric with your hand! As mentioned in other reviews. Cord is too short. Does not really heat up that much. Steam is ordinary at best.
Mum picked up this iron for me after our previous one was dropped after around 10 years of use and no longer worked. While this iron glides well, it does not get got enough to iron cotton or linen properly so it takes me forever to get through business shirts etc as I need to go over each surface twice. The water level is difficult to see and the cord is too short. I have to iron very close to the wall and powerpoint. Overall a disappointing product and after persisting for 18 months (and taking ironing over to Mum's to do) I am now considering replacing it.
It does what it's supposed to do reasonably well but it has its issues. The water cover on the iron itself is quite fragile and easily damaged. The cord is a bit short. The enclosed instructions in multiple languages are confusing and difficult to follow. The dark colour of the water tank makes it difficult to determine the level of water in it. Finally there's no water measuring jug included with the device.
Crap iron, simply doesn’t heat up hot enough to remove wrinkles in any material.
Iron is not hot enough. Will not iron cotton properly; drips water; will not iron out creases; water spray too far ahead of iron; will not dry water spray; cannot easily see water level. Even with repeated passes and heavy pressing and extra steam or water spray it is a failure. IT IS NOT suitable for purpose.
Very Lightweight easy to use iron, Steam feature with boost is brilliant for work shirts.
I am quite happy with the iron's performance, the only problem is the water tank. It is very difficult to see how much water is in it. And a longer cord would be good.
Overall the iron is good. A few points to note: 1. The iron does not get as hot as the irons where you have the temperature dial; which makes ironing not as effective. My previous iron with temperature dial was more effective especially when ironing linen. 2. One of the features - no leaking from iron. The is not correct. I bought the iron 2 ,moths ago and it has leaked water on 2 occasions when using it. 3. The Cal Clean feature although good, is a nuisance to use. You have to hold the lever and shake the iron in order to clean the iron. 4. Extra steam function - same as above i.e have to hold the lever to activate the extra steam.
this iron is easy to use and just glides - the only down side is the water tank is so dark therefore making it extremely hard to see how much water is in it, quite often you overfill
Unfortunately this product has ver poor performance. It isn’t hot enough to iron shirts or linen so it takes twice as long to do the ironing and the drip issue hasn’t been resolved. I returned mine and purchased a Tefal one again. Sorry but this new age no temperature control is simply not practical.
What is the extra steam button for?, doesnt show you if the iron is hot or warm, doesnt heat up enough to get creases out, leaks water when ironing. bad design
This iron is so easy to use. I love the fact that I no longer have to iron my delicate clothes first before turning up the heat on the iron for cottons etc. I can iron a pair of jeans followed by a silk shirt and it works beautifully on both. The only issue I have is that I can't easily see how much water is still in the iron because of the dark colour.
Doesn't live up to the hype. Spits water onto clothes even though the features say it doesn't which was a feature I was looking for Wouldn't trust on delicates Thought would be good for pillow cases, linen because of the steam but is no better than my old iron. Not worth the money
Not very pleased with the design of this iron. I bought Phillips because my old iron had been Phillips and gave many years of good service. This one I have had for a few months thinking I would get used to it’s design flaws but I haven’t and it annoys me every time I use it. It irons okay and I haven’t had any sticking issues but I do find it doesn’t work awfully well on heavy very creased fabrics. So in order of annoyance the things I don’t like about it are: It is very difficult to see the water level in the dark plastic tank It doesn’t hold enough water - I am constantly having to fill it which - see above - is a pain The cord is too short! There is no clip on the cord so it is hard to put away as the cord keeps unravelling It takes forever to heat up and get to ironing temp and then turns itself off quickly when you leave it for a few minutes The instruction book is unintelligible so I still don’t know how to use some of the features, or even what the features are or what they are supposed to do. What is the “hold and steam†function? And what is the point of it? It spits water onto clothes frequently
I was extremely happy when I bought the Philips steam iron, it's so light, you can iron anything with it, easy to use as you don't need to change the settings for any type of material. If it happens that you forget it down on the material, it would never burn it. Thank you Philips for such great product.
Had a Philips iron for years and loved it so didn't hesitate to go for their top of the range replacement once it finally died. Unfortunately while the soleplate glides wonderfully and the steam area is great, the iron simply fails in its fundamental task. The automatic heat control doesn't get hot enough to get rid of creases in cotton. Using steam boost constantly means refilling the tiny water tank between each item, so extremely inefficient. Also, this iron leaks. A lot. See pictures.
A slick looking iron recommended by the retailer but I had trouble with 80% of the fabrics I tried to use it on. It takes a long time to heat up and simply failed to remove creases on Cottons, Silk/cotton mix and particularly quality linen shirts, pillowcases etc. It also leaked water on garments despite claiming not to. Very disappointing and strangely not covered by the garment care return warranty as is the cheaper version ?
I was about to buy this iron, but after reading the reviews, im not sure i want to spend this much money on an iron that does not live up to the reasons i wanted to buy it. 1. The no temp feature, takes forever to reach the temp, and does not iron very creased items. To be fair, why allow items to get that severely creased in the first place? 2. Spits water despite the stop drip advertised. Secondary consideration, the water tank being too dark . All of these make a tedious task a bit more tedious. I was so enthusiastic about the no temp tech though, and no drip.
I had an earlier version of this iron that struggled to remove creases. This iron powers through creases. I’ve used it on delicate fabrics and heavy duty fabrics with no problems at all. I would buy this iron again with no regrets.
I am loving this product from Philips. It’s a very sturdy and performing iron. The steam output is very good and helps remove all creases. The auto temp control works like magic. The only shortfall is the water tank which is very small and the iron takes ages to heat up when switched on. Other than that love it.
There are problems with measuring how much water you have put into the iron due to,the casing being black. I can only see how much I have put in by filling it with a torch beam pointed at the casing. Also the water tank does not hold as much water as my previous Philips irons and I run out of steam much quicker than with my previous irons.
Excellent Iron always purchased Philips Irons this is the best yet. Strongly recommend it.
very easy to use and irons with no effort at all, i don't do a lot of ironing, it's usually my wife but when she's at the caravan in the summer it's left to me which to be honest is a joy. (hope the wife don't read this)
I bought it new iron and had to return within 5 months and was given another one but still same problem this product is a FLOP and not good value for money.
I have been happy with this iron... it is light to hold, and i like how it automatically adjusts to the fabric being ironed
Light weight easy to use, like not having to alter temperature every time when ironing different material's ...also glides over material with smooth sole plate...... would buy again if needed....Highly recommend to anyone because it's so easy to use.
My previous iron was a Philips and was so good when I suddenly had to buy a new iron, I decided to get another Philips. I selected this one and found the only thing good about it was the sole plate. I persevered being sure I would 'grow into it 'but after two months I returned it. As noted by other reviewers - the cord is too short, finding out how much water is in the tank is almost impossible and the self regulating temperature is a farce. I really tried to iron cotton and linen and be happy, but the iron doesn't have a clue - I couldn't tell that the heat changed at all no matter how long I ironed a cotton article. I was lucky to find a similar Philips iron with an actual dial and I am so happy I am even starting to enjoy ironing!
IRON EXCELLENT TO IRON WITH THE ONLY THING IS THE WATER I DON'T LIKE IT'S A BIT HARD TO SEE WHEN FILLING.
There are problems with measuring how much water you have put into the iron due to,the casing being black. I can only see how much I have put in by filling it with a torch beam pointed at the casing. Also the water tank does not hold as much water as my previous Philips irons and I run out of steam much quicker than with my previous irons.
Early days as we have only had this iron a few weeks but my wife is now enjoying this tiresome chore! As for me quick, simple, no dials to worry about just switch on and go. Don't forget to watch the water levels as this model seems to use slightly more than our old Philips iron. Would definitely recommend this product and already done so.
Excellent Iron always purchased Philips Irons this is the best yet. Strongly recommend it.
Clever and works well on all materials. Easy to use.Well worth the extra cost.
I was sceptical at first whether the feature where the iron will know the correct temperature to use on different type of fabrics works well. I tried on silk, linen and cotton and it does work well. I can iron anything without having to fiddle around with temperature dials from now on.
I just wish I had read the reviews before I bought this iron. The cord length is completely ridiculous & Philips should be embarrassed making such a terrible product.
I was a bit sceptical about the claim that this was an iron with which you could iron anything (ironable) without having to worry about setting the appropriate temperature. The iron just about does it for you although ironing 'over dried', crispy cotton is not quite so assured. Still, it's stopped the problems we had with our previous iron where it was easy to scorch more delicate fabrics because of wrong temperature selection.
Great looking iron. Adequately heavy. Promises and delivers on not scorching your clothes ! I guess the non-scorching part comes from the fact that it doesnt get hot enough for the clothes (according to my wife). This is my 3rd iron. The first 2 pieces have gotten heavily clogged up because of lime scale and failed to provide any steam while ironing (unless you kept pressing the steam-boost button). I was informed later that ideally I should be using ironing water. The 3rd iron has arrived, and i have started using ironing water. Unfortunately, the water leaks everywhere and we have been guzzling through bottles or ironing water.
Automatic temperature setting sounds too good to be true but it seems to work. However the product is let down by thoughtless design issues which make it hard to use.
iron leaks. does not remove wrinkle without excessive pressure. takes forever to do my ironing
I have gone from Ex to good because I cannot see the water level. Great iron for normal everyday ironing.
My wife who does most of the ironing was a bit skeptical about this iron not having a heat control but she loves it. It has lived up to all the advertising and performs well hence the title 'No Fuss Iron".
I'm really disappointed and unhappy with this PerfectCare Steam iron GC3929/66. It's making weird sound with the steam when it's on, it no longer gets hot enough to iron the clothes properly, and I can't descale it even though I followed the instructions. It's just been a year since I bought it, and we don't even use it that often...
The salesperson talked me into buying this iron saying it was the latest technology, as it has no specific temperature control panel, instead the iron senses the fabric and heats accordingly. For me this is the problem, it takes ages to heat up and to sense the fabric. The creases don't come out easily from the cotton and linen shirts no matter how many times I go over it. It feels like hard work. So disappointing as I spent a fortune on this iron. Will go back and buy the trusty iron with a temperature dial!
Loved the first use.. don’t like the short cord. Do You have an option for a longer cord..!
easy to use and fast in ironing linen, safe in dealing with linen, especially for us, men
To start with, this iron takes far too long to heat up. It is not able to produce enough heat to properly iron jeans or cottons and I wouldn't even bother trying linen!!! Simply poor performance overall. For more than 15 years I have bought and used the top quality iron from Philips. This was the worst iron I have ever purchased. No wonder it is excluded from the 101 day trial (money back guarantee)! Not happy at all.
loved the features don't have to change setting all the time. glides over clothes. very happy with my purchase.
This iron works very well and is quick to give a good result. The one drawback is that the water reservoir is made of plastic [which is fine] but the plastic is quite dark so difficult to see the water level.
light and compact . many features irons very well all clothes
Cord is redicilously short making it unusable. Had to purchase another sunbeam iron to replace.
It only iron good at high steam mode. At economy mode it's not good. It uses a lot of water The black colour exterior, the water level is not visible, so difficult to fill water to exact level It's too much noise of steam Water leaks while ironing on economy mode Not really happy with this iron I wish if I can return it and get refund Thanks
