Just a normal iron, smooth plate and pretty good steam only thing is it’s easy to bump the temperature setting and accidentally change the heat. Would be better if it was a bit stiffer to adjust. Auto off when standing upright is a good safety feature. Over all happy with this one.

Very smooth, glides over clothes so easily and gets out those annoying creases and wrinkles and I love the fact it isn’t too heavy so you can keep going without getting arm ache. Instructions are in pictures so you can easily follow and the great thing is you can use tap water instead of buying ironing water so savings to be had there, you just use a calcium button once a month to get rid of any hard water deposits. It got to temperature pretty quickly so no waiting around so long and I love the little add on cord holder, wish I’d had one years ago! All in all very pleased with this iron, I can certainly recommend it.

The buttons are legible and easy to see and use. Easy to hold non slip handle. The anti scratch sole plate was very big and easy to slide along garments with a very powerful crease removal. I found it penetrates to the under neath of the garment. Another great feature is the steam boost. The iron didn’t drip at all even when on low temperature. I was very impressed with the iron cord clip which was an extra touch. The iron warmed up very quick and the steam was very affective. Very impressed with performance.

Instead of going over creases multiple times like I used to, a quick once over with this and my shirts are crease free. The iron itself is easy to use. The cap to fill up is sufficiently large and so is the water storage capacity(320ml). The smoothness of the soleplate, plus being relatively light weight, makes it glide very easily across the board with little effort. The continuous steam boost is great for tackling those extra tough creases but I haven't had to use it much at all. The handle has a great texture to ensure maximum grip too but can be a little uncomfortable after prolonged use. Perhaps a softer, rubber type material could be used for that extra comfort in the future. The look and feel of the iron is modern and sturdy. I imagine I'll get many years out of this. And who would have thought a cord guide would be so useful? A nice little addition to the whole package. Very impressed.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This iron has adequate power at 2400 Watts, the water tank is a good size that I do not need to refill during my ironing session. The water filler is well sited and easy to fill, and easy to empty when I have finished ironing, although I do feel the flip over lid could quite easily get caught on something and be broken off. As I am not in a hard water area I do not need the Calc clean function very often but it appears to do the job. The cord guide is useful for me as I can be move the cord to a suitable area and it can be held in place for the most convenience and comfort, this is very useful with the extra long flex. I found the steam boost was just the right power and a real bonus as it really ironed out the stubborn creases, and the vertical steam function is an added bonus. Although the iron is slightly heavy for me the handle has good grip is well fitted to my hand, is comfortable to hold and the smooth glide action is very efficient. It is good to have the insurance that there is a two year guarantee, but owing to the construction of this iron I cannot see that it will be called into action.

I bought this product several weeks ago and to date it has met expectations
This is my first Philips iron and I have been using it over the last three weeks and I am finding it so easy to use. It has a larger sole plate compared to previous irons which makes ironing faster. Steam ironing is great; the iron quickly comes to the right temperature and I have not had issues with the steam burning my fingers. The iron also navigates easily around buttons. I iron lots of business shirts and linen items which are normally difficult to iron so I am super happy with my purchase.
Just purchased a GC2996 Philips Iron, do you use tap water or distilled water, the instructions are very minimal. Not clear on all the options i find, and I noticed you dont supply water jug, seem to get less for more these days. Havn't used it yet, but I'm hoping its as good as it says, just a shame we dont have more clear instructions on all the different buttons. Unfortunately i have to assume with the ratings etc.,

Stream option is fabulous for this time of the year, because when you dry your clothes on radiator, clothes gets super wrinkly. Just becareful with water inside, I flipped iron on the side and burn myself with water, I am glad I learned my lesson without any big burn marks. Well don't forget to read instruments before use.

I like the way the flap were you pour the water into the iron opens to the side making it a lot easier to fill the iron. It gets the creases out of the clothes really easy . I’m really happy with the results. I also like how you have the clip to keep the lead out of the way. I must admit I didn’t think I would like it a first but it’s a great. I did think the iron was a little heavy but I don’t mind that.
I do question the reliability of this product. Worked for 3 days during which period it was fine. However it suddenly stopped working, checked the fuse/socket , definitely an issue with the iron. Now the inconvenience of re-packing it to return it to Philips. Yes I re-cycled the box as I would never have believed an iron would fail so quickly!

The steam function is great and the crease removal is efficient and the iron itself heats up very quickly. The vertical ironing feature makes it easy to iron hanging clothes such as curtains. The calc release is great for keeping the iron clean. This iron comes with an extra accessory to keep the wire from getting tangles while ironing and i think this is a very useful feature. The iron couldn’t have been any better!

I am very happy with the iron but the sheet to explain the various options of heat ridiculous and in over 20 languages. It is still unclear to me which marker is the one for each item. I just have to wind it round until I get the right temperature for the item I am ironing.

Although a clearance outlet all our products still come covered with the standard manufacturer’s warranty, meaning if you have a problem while still under warranty, we’ll be able to organise a service call for a technician to come out and have a look at it for you.
The warranty period will vary from 1 to 5 years, depending on the manufacturer and product.

Good lightweight iron
Just a normal iron, smooth plate and pretty good steam only thing is it’s easy to bump the temperature setting and accidentally change the heat. Would be better if it was a bit stiffer to adjust. Auto off when standing upright is a good safety feature. Over all happy with this one.
Easy to use Iron
I purchased this iron box from Appliances online in Dec 2018. Great product, very easy to iron. The steam function on this iron is the best.
Smooth, easy, gets the job done, great design
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fabulous iron! Very smooth, glides over clothes so easily and gets out those annoying creases and wrinkles and I love the fact it isn’t too heavy so you can keep going without getting arm ache. Instructions are in pictures so you can easily follow and the great thing is you can use tap water instead of buying ironing water so savings to be had there, you just use a calcium button once a month to get rid of any hard water deposits. It got to temperature pretty quickly so no waiting around so long and I love the little add on cord holder, wish I’d had one years ago! All in all very pleased with this iron, I can certainly recommend it.
