Liebherr Group was started by Hans Liebherr in 1949 in the south of Germany, beginning as a manufacturer of tools and machinery for the building industry. Hans recognised that there was a need for proper machinery to assist in the rebuilding of post-war Germany and so he started about creating the first mobile tower crane to national success, shortly followed by the creation of the first hydraulic excavator in Europe, a lighter and more powerful earthmoving machine. Eventually, Liebherr launched into refrigeration in 1954.
Today, after 60 years, Liebherr has become one of Europe’s leading refrigeration manufacturers providing an extensive range of refrigeration and wine storage equipment to the world market with a reputation for performance, innovation, and care for the environment. Liebherr has continued as a family-run business, now with over 32,000 employees in more than 100 companies, across all continents. Every day, more than 7000 appliances leave Liebherr’s various production plants, a testament to the quality, design and innovation that has set Liebherr apart from the competition for decades.
